Default draw and move commands stuck on invisible grid

    Using AutoCAD 2022 2D
I am creating intersecting circles to fix tie points in a drawing. Suddenly my circle command jumps to a random point on what appears to be an invisible grid. I can create the circle there, but I can't move it to where it belongs. I can move it to other points on this invisible grid. (I don't know how many other draw commands or action commands this affects. it seems to affect Zoom, but not Pan, for example.)

What happened, and how do I restore it?

You must have turned on "snaps" (command "snap")
the Sysvar is "snapmode" you probably have it on 1 but want it on zero (F9 toggles it on/off too).

"gridmode" is related but not tied to it, you can have a different grid aspect and can be on/off separately from "snaps"

    Hope it helps

It's very strange, because I checked "snaps" and toggled F9 (along with all the other "F" keys) (having used the "snap" options for years) and nothing "released" the lock. At your suggestion today, I just tried it again and the problem has disappeared.

Thanks for prompting me to try it all again - sometimes something weird in the computer or software gets "glitchy" and doesn't behave correctly. My electronic world has been totally loony lately - both computers here bit the dust in December, and - being a techno-ninny - I've been thrashing around for two months trying to get everything back up to speed, reloaded and reset, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum and ad nauseum. And I've had to replace my old phone, too. I think - I hope! - this is the last of it!

    Bless you!
