Question Plumbing Fixture Tag But Not A Plumbing Fixture Tag

    Hello

I saw an annotation tag that was named after the plumbing fixture number, ie P-1A, handicapped water closet. It was dragged from the annotation families folder onto the sheet and the Plumbing fixture schedule would populate with the plumbing fixture number, type of fixture, manufacturer, trim, and piping connection sizes, notes. All of the parameters could be edited in the properties dialog box. So, the family could be duplicated by adding another type and edited as required.

I am interested in recreating this because for many plumbing fixtures, like sinks, the plumbing piping sizes in the plumbing group used never change, but the material and size often do. I know it will be a mix of system parameters and shared parameters. I am not sure if it would require nested families.

Part of me is saying this is stupid simple, or just mildly difficult. Please let me know if you have some ideas of how to go about doing this.

    Thanks

You can create this in Revit by making an annotation family with shared parameters. First, start by creating a Generic Annotation Family and add a label that links to a shared parameter, such as the plumbing fixture number, type, manufacturer, trim, and piping sizes. Then, set up a Shared Parameter File and add all the necessary parameters so they can be used in both the annotation family and the plumbing fixture family. Next, open a plumbing fixture family and load the annotation family inside it. After that, link the parameters from the annotation family to the fixture family so they can be controlled together. Finally, load the fixture into your project, and the plumbing schedule will automatically update with the correct information. This method makes it easy to duplicate, edit, and maintain consistent plumbing fixture data. You don’t need nested families unless you want additional details.
