    Default another 'little' private job

    Hi everyone.

I've done another Revit to sketch-up movie presentation using the 'page' tool in SU. Fantastic results, I love it.

The job is a 23,000sq.ft house that has an existing pool house attached to it. The client wants a 2000sq.ft master bedroom suite built as a first floor over the pool (2 times bigger than my house!). I have only modelled the pool area of the house, the main house is just too big and sits to the side of the model as you see it.

I would love something similar to the page tool in Revit, as well as the 'glass house' facility which I really feel shows off design intent well.

I have reduced the file from 92mb to 2mb, so the image quality is no where near as good as the original, but it still shows reasonably well.

Nothing really new here, but I do like it all the same.

    Max.

Brilliant. I especially like the way you cut through the house!

I sure have alot to learn!

Very nice Max! I love it. My only crit would be to keep the camera moving, every so slightly, when you come to your stopping points. The camera stops feel jerky, you know what I mean? See if you can ease the curves at those keyframes, to create a gentle stop. (not sure if you can do that in sketchup?) Same goes go the "slicing"

    Anyway, minor things, great work!

    Thanks Guys.

Glen, it really isn't as tricky as it looks. Get the evaluation version of SketchUP on www.sketchup.com and watch all of the tutorial videos (which are excellent) You'll be up and running in no time.

Chris, The original file has no jerkiness (not sure why, but after reducing the file this appeared, plus it doesn't cut to exactly the same places which is even weirder!) But even so, it does stop abruptly at the page intervals. I'm not sure if that is something that could be sorted in SketchUP, it would be nice if it decelerates before the stops. You can set it to not stop at all, but I feel that they give you the opportunity to have a good look at things (not always advantageous!). I haven't yet tried an actual walkthrough in SU yet, I imagine it would be rather good at it.

    Max,

That rocks! I just love SketchUp. I agree with you - that these animations, with the live sections and the transparency, can effectively communicate more design intent and understanding of relationships within the building. I've done some of these quick animations for clients and they think I spent mega-hours to create it.

    Looks great.

    Really great Max!

I did a couple of these recently (one being a 672mb walkthrough) which won't win any animation awards at the Oscars! but they impressed the pants off the client! Threw a few textures in as well, but the 7 hour rendering time left me only 2 hours sleep before the presentation!

All that effort for four minutes! hmm . .
