Default find and replace removing first letter string

I am using 05 and with the FIND command, when i got to find and replace, the first letter string in the mtext will be removed. For instance, I want to find SEE SHEET A1.0 and replace it with SEE SHEET A1.1. When i do the FIND command, it will find and replace the text, but it now will say EE SHEET A1.1. THE 'S' IS TOTALLY GONE. This happens on all mtext strings in the drawings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hi

Just carried out a quick test here, everything appears to work ok!

    Windows XP Pro SP2
    AutoCAD 2005 SP1 + other available Updates (AutoCAD® 2005 - Updates & Service Packs)

Do you experience this issue / problem in all drawing files?

    Have a good one, Mike

It is happening throughout the office with mtext only using the architxt.shx font. The only letter to disappear with the FIND command is the very first letter of the mtext string.

    Hi

I download Font file architxt.shx from here -> Made it available to AutoCAD 2005 -> Created a Text Style based on this Font file -> Carried about testing as before....

    Everything worked ok!

Therefore do have the AutoCAD 2005 Updates & Service Packs installed on your system(s) (please refer to my above post for further information if need be).

    Have a good one, Mike

I am running windows xp service pack 2 with all current updates and autocad 2005 with the service pack 1. I did not see any other service packs to update autocad. This only happens with mtext, and i'm not replacing the first word of the mtext. For instance i want to change "soffit height of counter" to say "soffit height of niche"- it will change it to "offit height of niche". I will keep trying to see if i can find out what's going on. I might have to explode the mtext, run the find command, and then convert it back to mtext if nothing else.

Thanks again for your continuing help!

This not really a fix but a possible work around. Try replacing "soffit height of counter" with "ssoffit height of niche". (If it looses the first character, give it an extra pre-character to loose?)

    Hi

For what it is worth I have "Spelling Checker Update" & Units Toggle for the Plot and Page Setup Dialog Boxes" loaded on top of Service Pack 1.

Carried out further testing using the exact strings given above, again everything worked ok! at this end.

OK- I have found the root of the problem, but not sure how to fix it. If i select the text and go to the change properties dialog box, under the contents, the text shows as followed

    {farchtxt.shx; BODY OF MTEXT HERE}

Does anyone know how to get rid of the {farchtxt.shx; part of the text string?

    Thank you.

Thanks Mike- it was a good place to start. I tried what autodesk suggests, but when i change the text using the STYLE command, it doesn't effect the mtext. I found a lisp routine that strips the formatting off of the text, so I think that's about all i can do. I appreciate all the help!
