    Default Buzzsaw in V8

Had to laugh about Buzzsaw in V8. We had a one month trial and then deiced when we got a bill for $18,000 for a one year subsrciption based upon our needs we bagged it for and FTP site. A whole lot cheaper and easier to run. We recently setup our two offices west coast/east coast and dropped Buzzsaw.

Honestly, does anyone here use it? I would be willing to bet only very large firms, multinationals or governments use it to any degree.

    Any takers?

When I was working for a reseller - the only comments we ever got about buzzsaw was, "How do I get this icon off my open menu..."

Here in Australia, Aconex is used very widely. A much more solid system IMHO. Still annoying have to upload all our files though, would prefer to use the FTP as at least then the files are on our server so its quicker for us...

FTP is pretty much free, and it works well. But it doesn't offer much accountability, and it doesn't have Buzzsaw's uptime. So it's like this:

If your project is large and you must have 100% uptime, and your team has some people who don't 'get' FTP, then use Buzzsaw. Buzzsaw also logs who did what and when, so you'll know if someone did in fact download the drawing on such and such a date and time.

Most people could get by with FTP, but learning how to set up FTP roots and permissions takes some learning.

Buzzsaw also offers some level of protection, as the data is backed up. Many FTP sites are not backed-up, and if a drive crashes....

Wht is it so expensive? Is it the 20/80 rule that banks use? i.e. 20% of your customers make 80% of your profits. Discourage the rest with higher fees, higher rates, and poor service! I think this is one product that could be useful to many but it seems the marketing strategy is targeted towards the top end only. There should be a lower cost entry version or even better free to Revit users

and it doesn't have Buzzsaw's uptime
Many FTP sites are not backed-up
If your provider isn't backing up data and can't guarantee close to 100% uptime then it's time to change.

Isn't buzzsaw based on webDAV? Would it be possible to connect to any webDAV server using Revit's buzzsaw function?

I meant "in -house" FTP sites, and since they are part of the web sever, most company's web servers are not part of the normal backup. At least in my experience.

A hosted FTP site should be backed up by it's provider.
