Paperspace & plotting very slow

Anything that involves regeneration to/from paper space or plot preview takes an extraordinarily long time. Any suggestions on how to speed things back up?

I've had a similar problem with simply opening new files. It's periodic, but it holds me up for over a minute sometimes...

audit and purge everything (including the -purge regapps option after purging everything else) do this in the drawing that has the problems and all xrefs attached to it, should fix it up, you may also find a particular block (esp. if it has mtext fields in the block) may be slowing you down.
