Question Text sizes when editing in AutoCAD 2006, have to zoom in

In previous versions of Autocad the text dialogue box would rescale to a size that could be seen easily on the screen whilst still retaining the correct text size once I press Enter.
In Autocad 2006 the text only appears in the dialogu box in the size the text is actually set to. So to view what I am typing I have to zoom right in.
    Can anybody help?

    Thanks Brenda

Tried that but it hasn`t cured it.
The problem is - when I zoom right out and then tried to insert some text at say 2.5mm high, I can`t see it without zooming in. Previous versions rescaled the text, only on the screen so that it could be seen.

If you make the mtext editor :lisped (the lisp editor), it will come up in a single window, kind of like dtext.

There is no real "cure". This was done by design in 2006. It is called In Place Editor, or something like that. I am not sure if there is a way to get it back the OLD way. You could use an external text editor, like notepad or word.

the MTEXTFIXED variable doesn't seem to have an affect in 2006. Whether set at 0 or 1, it still used in-place editing, so if you are far away from your text, you still have to zoom in.

    From the help file

    Type: Integer
    Saved in: Registry
    Initial value: 0
Obsolete. Retained in the product to preserve the integrity of scripts.

This system variable has no effect in the In-Place Text Editor that is displayed by MTEXT when MTEXTED is set to "Internal".

0 Displays the Multiline Text Editor and the text within it at the size and position of the multiline text object in the drawing. Text too large or too small to be edited is displayed at a minimum or maximum size.

1 Displays the Multiline Text Editor at a fixed position and size based on last use, and displays text in the editor at a fixed height.

If you specify OLDEDITOR for the mtexted variable, the style will revert back to the previous version default.

If you've seen my other post's I'm having a bit of a problem with 2006 right now BUT try this: while in mtext editor, use your scroll mouse's roller button to pan & zoom (keep the pointer within the editor box) click outside the editor and it all goes back to normal.

This has worked for me so it may be an un-documented feature or it may be part of my problem

    Hi

Take a look at link "AutoCAD 2006 Tip: How to get the old Mtext fixed editor back by Shaan Hurley" (approximately 3/4 of the way down) in this post.

    Have a good one, Mike
