Default Pasteclip command not pasting clipboard contents

I am having trouble with the pastclip command. After activating it, the system pauses and then returns to the command line without any action.
Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?

During any PASTECLIP command?, in any drawing?, with anything on the clipboard?

[Start->Run->clipbrd] to view the actual data on the clipboard.

    What's on the clipboard?

Start a new empty drawing (no template) - run PASTECLIP, then DBLIST. Does it list anything?
