Layer key styles not working

All objects that I create from the Tool Palettes are placed on layer 0 and not on their respective layers. What is wrong? Do I have to set a Current Layer Key Style? How do I do that?

Right click on the tool on the palette and select "properties" there should be an option to assign a Layer Key to the tool there.

Is layer 0 the current layer when this occurs? If so, make certain that the current Layer Key Style is not set to "Current Layer". You can check this on the Layering tab of the Drawing Setup dialog.

If you have something other than "Current Layer" selected as your Layer Key Style, then you may need to edit the Layer Key Style to make certain that it is not mapping layer 0 to one or more Layer Keys.

Thanks, I finally figured it out. In the Drawing Setup on the Layering tab the default layer key style was set to Current Layer instead of our office standard.
