    Question Image Mapping - Alpha

I'm trying to use the Alpha Channel controls to map an image of a Symphony on to an object that I will place on a stage.

I've blue screened the image and the image is cliping properly however it's mapping onto a 3 dimensional screen I've created and the image from the back side is showing through giving me a double offset image.

Can I map to a planar object and if so how do I create such an object?

I'm I taking the wrong approach with this?

I also noticed the image wants to tile. Is there a way to have the image lock to the object's dimensions, similar to the RPC people? (which I have no idea how to do).

Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Since I was unable to lock the image map to the object I used the brute force method and adjusted the map 'X & Y"orientations on the object (Family) file till it matched the object in the project file. 15 reiterations later I finally had the image direclty in line withe the object.

I still have two men in the white jackets and a bass player showing through from the back.

    See the attached image.

I would use a "decal" for this purpose, decals are two dimensional planes that would do exactly what you want. Or better yet, do it in post with the photo editor of your choice.

    PS Moving to rendering.

    Excellent,

The decal worked great. I just had to make the object I was applying the decal to clear but other than that no problems.

    Thanks

    Final output attached.

Just a thought ~ Using Decals & really just for illustration purposes if you place a clear glass wall on stage & forward of the back wall & then place the image onto that glass wall you will be able to get views from the stage into the auditorium looking through that image

If you are able to edit & cut around the image first before importing ie to give it a profile eg cut around the top row of heads then views over the image to back stage wall should be achievable

Trial & error with the decal image as this is not readable until you render

If you post your trials no doubt more advice will follow

Edit :- Um .. looks like I posted too late >> nice image just sneaked in

    Looks good Carl!
    A few questions however....
Are the only classical music lovers in Oro Valley HC?
How come I didn't get that gig? (Maybe it's time to fire my booking agent!!...oh, damn, that's me!!!!!)

    Great job

    Steve,

That was the auditioning committee! If you really want to get the gig send me a digital photo of Shell Shock and I will render you into an audition.

I thought you might like to see the final image (attached). I'm trying to Wow! the O.V.D.R.B. if that's even possible.

On another topic, is there a way to simulate a back lite channel letter? What would be nice is if you had luminance control over the back surface of the modeled letters. If color control was included you could get some great night effects on those commercial projects.
