Take a look at the picture. I have put this baluster assembly on some ramp
rails. When it is drawn as a rail it looks horrendous. Does anybody do
complicated railings like this?
TIA for ANY help you can offer.

I did these ones as solid panels with model lines over the top of them, it looked fine when printed out...
What about a rendered 3d view? We are going to be taking some shots with these rails in sight.
This is the same answer I gave in alt.cad.revit.......
Railings set up so that the baluster element repeats at whatever centre you
select, the problem is that if you have a rail which is not a precise
multiple it tacks an extra baluster in, its barely noticeable with a 25mm
square steel bar or what have you, but with complex baluster members it is a
problem, what I tend to do now in this situation is a separate handrail to
whatever length is required and then a separate railing family with no
handrail for the balusters which I set to the right length and just centre
in the railing area, its good enough for rendering and most internal views
and you can just draft over it if you need more.
Where in Raleigh are you? I studied for a time at NCSU

Bloody hell Martin, that is some detail. Very impressive. I didn't see it was a download before.
I know it doesn't help much but I hear rumours that the next release of Revit will have significant upgrades in the area of stairs and railings. It may or may not be true
I hope it is, it's about time.... we should be able to control the up and down text at leastOriginally Posted by Zig

I didnt do it with these, as we never rendered it. But you could scan in from the manufacturers catalogues and do it like the fences etc in the accurender with a transparent alpha channel (wow that sounds like I know what I am talking about - I have never actually done it ) - although postitioning it exactly on your solid panel might be difficult, and I am not sure how the shadows are calculated?Originally Posted by els1400

Didnt take any effort on my part, I just got the CD from the manufacturer with all their stuff as DWG files, stuck them on solid panels and that was it really!..... we didnt tell the client that obviously
