Thumbs down Clicking a shortcut in file dialog that doesn't the name of file in the File Name" *

Clicking on a shortcut in the Save File dialog, changes the name displayed
in File Name: to the shortcut name instead of keeping the name.

Microsoft Word retains the name of the current file when clicking on a
shortcut, saving having to retype in a new name when you are saving the file
    to another folder.

I do not show this in AutoCAD 2006. What version of AutoCAD are you using?

    Version 2006

See the attached screen shots as to what happens when you click on a shortcut item.
Notice the file name box changes to the name of the shortcut, instead of preserving the file name.

Just for clarity, because I am not showing this behavior on my system, what OS are you using? I wonder if it has something to do with your OS and not AutoCAD. We are using, um, 2000 here.

A-HA! Now I see. I never use shortcuts, I use the places bar on the left side of the dialog, so I had never noticed that before... I can see the problem. Sorry for my confusion...

So, yes, sounds like a good one to me!!

Pain in the neck, but just copy the name when you first get into the dialog box, then you can paste it over anything that replaces it.

There are quite a few times I find I need to do this.

Computers are a pain some days.

I've only just come across this with my current client. Yes, it's a PITA.
