Anybody developed a slick way of showing a roof plan with a shadow effect? I'm wishing for filled regions that have a transparency setting so that I could overlay a grayscale over the asphalt shingle model pattern.

    Workarounds? Ideas?

You can render actual shadows on a roof plan. Create a new 3D view, then go to view>orient>top. This will create a 3D view that looks like a 2D roof plan. Then you can render it.
