    Smile Toolbar customization

I am using AutoCad 2004. Lately I have not been able to customize my toolbars. Case in point is that I added the Align icon to the Modify toolbar and worked with it for a full drafting session but when AutoCad was exited and restarted, the Align icon disappeared from the toolbar as if AutoCad did not save it. I have been able to do it a few months earlier on the same PC with the same software.

Is there a setting in AutoCad 2004 that I had hit without knowing?
I know AutoCad 2005 has TBCUSTOMIZE. What about 2004?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure that your menu file is not in a read-only directory or is marked as read-only. This will cause the menu to be saved some place else that might not be so obvious, and AutoCAD might not be finding it.

If you are in AutoCAD, make a change to your toolbars, and then AutoCAD crashes for some reason, the changes will NOT be saved. At least that's how it has been with 2002 and below. Any time you make a change to your toolbars, quit AutoCAD immediately, open it back up, and check to see if the change is still there.

I haven't had a chance to test my theory in 2005 and 2006 yet. Most of our stuff is still in 2002.

Anyway, every time you customize AutoCAD, treat it as a "customization" session and shut it down before you start a "drafting/design" session. It's just safer that way.
