Exclamation Internet Explorer 7 To Be XP Only

Internet Explorer 7 To Be XP Only

WindozeSux writes "The new Microsoft browser, Internet Explorer 7 will only be available for users of Windows XP. However, due to the fact the that a large amount of Windows users do not own Windows XP, IE7 is expected to boost the amount of Firefox users. From the article: 'Improvements in Firefox, along with IE 7 restrictions, could lead to a dramatic increase in the open-source browser's market share, according to Dotzler.'"

I don`t know about anybody else, but I don`t use IE - its too full of holes.
I use Opera - I think its great - allows zooming in on web pages and a lot of other features IE doesn`t have.
    I won`t be installing IE7

Thank my lucky stars I actually have windows XP.
I hate it when a computer upgrade is mandatory to run software.

I use Firefox too, but as I understand it, you have to have IE in order for AutoCAD's help system to work. In fact, I had IE 5 on Windoze 2K, but had to upgrade to IE 6 because one service pack or another broke the help system in AutoCAD.

So - will this mean future versions of AutoCAD will effectively be XP only?

They already are "XP only". No tech support is available for any other operating system.

I have been using Firefox, but it is starting to become flawed just like IE. Opera is better about this, but both programs (FF & O) still have no real solution for rendering pages that are IE only, like some parts of Adesk - like the subscription center. Open the subscription center in FF or O and then in IE and see the difference in functionality. There might be addons to alleviate this, but out of the box, you lose functionality. As long as it is taking to get IE7 out, it would be surprising if it wasn't simply the best thing that ever happened to Microsoft. Surely it is going to be awesome; however, I hope it is not a knock off of MSN Explorer. Cheesy interface.

Really they shouldn't have to. All browsers and web pages should comply with W3C standards (which IE & IE only pages obviously don't).
