    Default Properties Panel has died

My properties panel has carped out on me.

When entities are selected, all that shows up in the properties panel is the entity count.

Any pointers on how to get it back would be nice. See pic below.

Also, my design centre has died also. When I try and pick a block or drawing in the design centre I get the following alert window -

    Error: The operation completed successfully.
    [C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2004\acDcSymbols.arx]

My first guess is that its a registry problem, but we all know that the registry is somewhere you don't wanna have to go - unless you reallllllly have to.

I would try to run a REPAIR on the install.

Start -> Settings - Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Select the program, Repair.

That's gotta be a last resort. I have never once had a successful repair that way and always wind up re-installing everything from scratch.

    Hi

    Why?

A repair install takes 5 minutes (approx) to perform... if that doesn't work, a complete uninstall / reinstall might be the order of the day... personally I would rather try the repair install first.

    Have a good one, Mike

Do you have support paths in your AutoCAD 2006 install that point to a previous release? This is my guess if you are having problems with DesignCenter in 2006 that is looking for 2004 files. I would try a reset possibly on the profile, otherwise I would give repairing the install a try.

Ok, ok....Pass me a large slice of humble pie. The repair worked. I feel like an idiot....but in my defence I would say that my mistrust of automatic repairs is rooted in Microsoft products, not AutoDESK.

Dunno how it managed to run off and come up with the 2k4 path. Has me stumped also - I checked all the paths in all the profiles (Mech & MDT also) and there was nothing pointing to the old 2k4 location.

Anyway, I'm good to go again and all my customisations survived the repair...and all before the home time bell...yippee - I am now off to a wine tasting to get sozzled.

    Hi

There is no reason to feel like that...

Good to hear it worked, and you are up and running again.

    Have a good one, Mike

    Thanks for this post.

My properties window also has become a void.

I am running 2006 on winxp and these instructions confused me. After selecting Acad 2006, I have to select the change button. Then the repair option becomes available.
