Default New Revit to Vray plug-in demo at SIGGRAPH

Just saw this on the Chaos forums. Click here for the full announcement.

I've snipped this from the Press Release. Looks like they are making progress on the Revit 8.0 bridge to Vray Standalone.

    from asgvis website:
    July 24, 2005

Chaos Group VRay Renderer Being Plugged In

ASGVIS will team-up with Chaos Group at SIGGRAPH 2005 to provide advanced previews of plug-ins for SketchUp 5, Rhinoceros 3.0, and Revit 8.0 that bridge to the new VRay v1.5 Standalone.

Man, I wish I was going, I would love to see how it works! Maybe they will post some more info here soon.

If anybody here is going be sure to report back.

That would be cool. I have never used it, but the renderings it produces are some of the best out there right now. Nice find Chris!

Wow!! Will be interesting to see what they can do. Unless they have access to more of the API than is publicly available (begs the question, does ADN membership expose more of the API ?) my guess is:

    1.. Geometry export
2.. Material export via mapping definition perhaps.

AFAIK there isn't a way to get access to camera definitions in Revit. So scene definition and lighting will be interesting. And it would seem to exclude animation as well.

Still I'd like to be proven wrong. At least it will give us some idea of what's possible and set a benchmark for other render vendors...

Looks very interesting and would love to hear the feedback from the show how it really works.

That is wonderful news. It means that a serious player in the CG industry is working with Revit. Hurray!

I see from their website the export plugins will be released "before the end of the year" ;-( Would have been nice to see what they can do.

    Chris,
That's an excellent question, and I wish I had an answer for you. Unfortunately I couldn't find them at the show.
