    Smile Grip Editing Polylines

I am running ACAD LT 2006
Is there a reason why when I select a grip on the right end of a line and move my cursor to hover back towards the left and type in 50 then enter, the line will shorten by 50
But when I try the same thing with a Polyline it changes the entire length of the line to 50?

I used to use grip edits a lot as I found it quite quick.

Is there a setting for this at all?
    Cheers

Is this a single-segment straight pline?

I can't reproduce this effect but I doubt it would be a purely LT issue.

    Question Re: Grip Editing Polylines

    Thanks for your reply,
Yes it is a straight single segment pline.
Although if i try the same thing on a pline with more than one segment it makes the length of the last segment the figure that i type in.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks
    Kim

    Hi Kim.
Sorry, I still can't reproduce that behaviour.
If I draw a 2-segment pline like ^ either segment will reduce in length by 50 when grip-stretched towards the apex.

    Hi

A few possible things to look at...

Link - "AutoCAD 2006 Tip: Changes to coordinate entry in Dynamic Input by Shaan Hurley" in this thread - "Breaking info on AutoCAD 2006"

    +

Have a browse of the following threads...

    Stretching & other problems.

    Moving items to 0,0

Move Objects from their current location to 0,0,0

Please note, none of the above threads directly answer your query, but hopefully they will offer one or two things to look at...

    Have a good one, Mike

Was your original pline 100 long?

With Priority for Coordinate Data Entry set to Running Object Snap and current running osnaps including MIDpoint - stretching either (1) leaves the line the same (2) shortens it by 50% or (3) (effectively) erases it.

I've tried full A2006 and 2004LT. I don't see a difference between Lines and Plines.

Someone tell me if I'm totally wrong here for I don't have 2006 I'm just going by memory on the seminar I went to...

In 2006 when you grip edit can't you hit the tab key after grabbing the grip to change from "total length" to distance moved"...

again I'm going from memory here?

    I don't see that here.

Could you be thinking of Lengthen?

    Lightbulb Re: Grip Editing Polylines

Thanks for all your help guys i figured it out.
It was doing this because of the changes in 2006 with Dynamic Input
Here is an answer i copied from one of the pages you directed me to.

A: This is because in AutoCAD 2006 Dynamic Input defaults to relative coordinates instead of absolute. The "@" is automatic now in AutoCAD 2006. So when entering Move 0,0 it is telling AutoCAD move the object 0,0 units from the current location which is no move at all. If you do not want to work in the relative coordinates, you can either change the format to absolute coordinates (DYNPICOORDS=1) or type #0,0 to force an absolute coordinate entry.

If i either turn Dynamic Input off or type in # before i grip edit (as before) it does the same thing as it used to do before 2006

    Thanks Again
    Kim
