Rob, need a little more info please

    What version of Map?
What type of data (Object Data, SQL, Access, Oracle, AS400)?
What type of query (Location, Property, Data, SQL)?

    Thanks,
    Jeremiah

What kind of hardware are you using. If your using an older system then getting a new one should greatly increase the speed.

Thanks for the insight, but I don't think this is a hardware issue.
    I am running a new P4 w/2gig ram, 28gig harddrive.

Perhaps it's just wishfull thinking on my part, I have not used map very long so I don't know what normal time to query would be.

I am querying GIS data, 133 layers + text and each query seems to be +- 2 minutes.
    Does this seem normal?

I was just hoping there might be some system variables or other settings that might effect query speed.

I don't think it should be taking so long. I would say around a few sec.

    Glen,
Would the fact that I'm querying from 6 different source drawings make a difference?

Since they are on your system I don't think they should take that long. Could be wrong. Don't have any other ideas that might be causing the slowdown. The rest of the system seem pretty fast at doing other things?
