Default Lines on a site drawing

I have drawing that I received from a surveyor for a site plan. When I go to draw lines on the drawing say to set up a grid to do cut and fill volumes it says that the lines need (2) points. It does the same thing when you try to offset a line as well. When you type in the distance say offset> you get

Specify offset distance or [Through] <Through>: 20'
Requires numeric distance, two points, or option keyword.

I have no clue as how to go about getting it to do what I would like. Any thoughts or suggestions?

What would you like to do?

Most likely, the drawing is using decimal units. No foot designation (apostrophy) needed. IE: 20' = 20.00.

You do not use the " ' " symbol after the number value if you are working in decimal units as most civil engineering drawings utilize.

Thanks gentleman. That is it. And as for the old and slow comment as quick as you replied to the request tells me you are quicker than I am. Too many hours of feet and inches. Once again augi to the rescue!!
