Question Excel Spreadsheet and AutoCAD 2005

I am an AutoCAD 2005 user and have only a basic understanding and knowledge of AutoLISP and my knowledge of Excel is very minimal. Nonetheless, I have been asked to find a way to use an Excel spreadsheet to control layers in AutoCAD. In other words, if layer A is on, then turn layer B on and freeze layer C, etc.

From my research, I have found that I may need to know AutoLISP, ActiveX and Visual Basic to make this happen. I would be happy to learn as much as I can about those things, but my co-worker is anxious to have this ability. I found a LISP program that exports ACAD layer states to a text file and that is a step in the right direction, but my co-worker wants to be able to go the other direction.

Can anyone get me pointed in the right direction?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Question Re: Excel Spreadsheet and AutoCAD 2005

    Hi

Can I please ask why the user wants to go down the road of controlling Layers from a spreadsheet?

From what you have described above I would have thought Layer States would be the way to go...

    Have a good one, Mike
