Default 8.1/E Room Tag lines to be visible when 'Not enclosed' -O

I'm really fed up trying to discover why room tags are reporting that the room is 'Not Enclosed'.

Clicking on a properly tagged room shows the room separation line (albeit faintly, wish this was bolder to be more clear, but thats another wish). However, the purpose of this wish is to request that Revit shows me the room separation lines it already has on the plan, so I can see where the 'leak' is.

I've spent a good part of today trying to reestablish room tags after they suddenly started to become 'Not Enclosed', (when they were all OK yesterday before I made some curtain walling).

As I don't know where the separation lines are, I end up putting down separation lines over existing lines and getting errors.

Please factory, if I click on a room tag that is reporting 'Not Enclosed', let it show me what lines its already got, just like when the room is properly enclosed.

Would be very helpful to show something like a sketch view with the break highlighted in orange like in other situations.

I was just having this problem yesterday. Nice wish! It may be harder to implement than it sounds, but hopefully they can figure it out.

EDIT: Regarding the actual separation lines, you can change them in the line style settings to whatever weight, color, etc.

    Damian,

The room boundaries being very feint is a pain. What I found is they display a lot clearer if you ensure you have not selected the lineweight button for the view display. By changing that to display lineweights the room boundaries appear a lot clearer for me. - May be worth trying

    Thanks Irusun & Phil,

Yes, that works if your room tag is properly enclosed. But when you have a room tag that suddenly states 'Not Enclosed' then you may make a pact with the devil, but you wont be able to find where the problem is, as you cannot see neither the 'working' room separation lines nor the errant separation line(s).

If selecting the room tag would highlight the (already placed) separation lines this would make life so much easier.

What an awesome wish! I have spent days trying to figure out what exactly is keeping a complex room shape from being enclosed. I would also like to see other elements such as structural columns (perhaps used as pilasters) have the ability to be room-bounding.

Some things to note about rooms:
    • Revit calculates the room boundaries at the 4' mark above the level of the current view. If you only had 2" high walls from 3'-11" to 4'-1", Revit would call that enclosed. Revit currently ignores plan regions when calculating room boundaries.
    • Vertical walls and curtain walls are the only room bounding objects. Otherwise you'll need room separation lines.

Wish - How about being able to edit the lines like editing sketch lines...

From the 'Revit V9 -come on AU attendees!!-spill the beans..' thread.

Is this the answer I have been looking for?

How would the room boundary work with an irregular shaped room?

I'd like to suggest the 'Marching Ants' outline to show the boundary, like what you see when you make a selection in Photoshop.
