    Question checking out an .ipt

We're running INV-8 without the vault. Somehow a file got checked out for edits & we can't check it back in. We don't normally check our files in or out. There is no icon showing the status of the file so it can't be over-ruled or checked back in that way. In this state, it can be viewed but not edited. Is there an easier way of dealing with this without going to an archived backup tape or redrawing it?

Somewhere along the line, somebody has set a project to semi-isolated or shared. These projects have built in checkin and check out functions.

    This is what probably happened.

    1. Somebody opened the file in a semi or multi project (which checks it out).
    2. Somebody else opened it (Or the same person opened it in a different project), which still respects the checkout, but won't allow you to return it.

There's also a VBA routine on the following website
    called Checkin-Checkout
http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/iCode/index.htm (you'll have to scroll down a bit).

    This should clear those files.

Is there a question mark next to it in the File Status Browser. If so, right click on the part and choose resolve, then create checkout. If this is the problem you will now be able to check it back in.
