If you need theses shapes for a drawing you received from a consultant who uses Autocad Civil or LDD, you should just go to the Autodesk website and download the specific enabler like this one that contains the aeccland.shx shape file as well as others that may be used:

Very helpful.
Putting those in my c:/programefiles/autocad2008/support folder has done the trick.
There are drawings coming through from surveyors we use who are always missing these files.
This has saved me lots of hassle. I hate clicking cancel twice to open a drawing
