    Default scaling lineweights

    Hello-

I am running 2005. I am having trouble getting my custom line weights to scale in paperspace viewports. For example, if I space two lines 1/2" apart that have a lineweight of .035 inches, they are easily discernible in a viewport of full scale. When I draw another viewport with a scale factor of 1" = 1', the lines are crowding each other. The result is that my custom lines all crowd each other the smaller scale factor my viewport gets. I have toggled the "scale line weights" box in the plot dialog box, with no results.

Why is this happening? How can I fix this?

    Thanks in advance.......

What is your PSLTSCALE set to for that layout?

    Question Re: scaling lineweights

    Hi

Is this a display issue or an output issue?

If a display issue - Take a look at the _.LineWeight command (Lineweight Settings dialog box)

If an output issue - What type of Plot Style Table do you use, CTB or STB?

    Have a good one, Mike

    Thank you for the comments-

This is both a display and output issue.

Our PSLTSCALE is normally the default. Our agency (Government, nationwide) does not use custom .ctb files because of the logistics of sending the table to all future users of the drawing. We use the default monochrome table, which I believes defaults to the object lineweights for lineweights. We thus adjust lineweights in the layer manager dialog box.

Upon reading some of the FAQs, it appears that one cannot scale lineweights. If you want your line to scale, make it a polyline, right?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi

You can scale Lineweights, but! that involves editing a (or creating a new) Plot Style Table (CTB or STB).

    OR

    Go the Polyline route.

    OR

    ...

    Have a good one, Mike
