Default Binding photo's (raster images) to dwg

We are inserting photo's into an AutoCAD drawing and using lines, arrows and text to indicate items to be removed from the plant.

Cannot get the image to "bind" to the drawing. When we send the .dwg to a contractor or the plant, the photo does not go with the drawing.

Is there an easy way to do this? Sending the photo along with the drawing is not a satisfactory option.

    Thanks!

Have you tried using the search utility of the forums? You might try looking up "etransmit". This should bring up a lot of information for you.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

    You really have no choice.
Images cannot be bound to a dwg file in the sense that an xref can - after all, an xref is also a dwg file.
Etransmit helps to ensure that you remember to send everything needed.

    Hi

In my humble opinion, Richard's and John's above suggestion of using ETransmit is the only correct way to go here...

But you might also want to look at this post "RE: Image Insertion Improvements".

    Have a good one, Mike

If you do decide to use OLE insertion (personally, I would not recomend it) do some test plotting before sending your files to your client. All sorts of weird plotting behaviour can occur with OLE images in dwg files.

Have you considered sending the drawings in dwf format. If the contractor is only going to print or view the drawings dwf would work well for this purpose. I have found that it is important to publish dwf's according to whether they are going to be plotted or viewed. If they are going to mark-up the drawings they can use Dwf Composer an inexpensive mark-up program that works great with acad.
    That my 2 cents

As someone who has experience the problems with embedded image files dont give yourself the extra hassle they cause.

Take a look at this link http://forums.augi.com/showthread.ph...994#post163994 for more information.

If they are standard photos would "bmpout" be a solution. I use bmpout rather than jpgout because it seem to give a better quality of text(but that could just be me.

    Regards

    Richard
