Bug has been noted. Export image (render) fails to name file correctly if saving to anything other than a jpeg.
The work around is to manually type the extension in the file name box.
For example, if you wanted to export out a rendering as a tif, you would select the tif extension from the drop down box, and name the file "view1.tif" you have to include the .tif.
