I am doing a sheet of precast elevations. I have placed callouts on the building elevations, around all the precast pieces, and though visiblity or filled regions i have blocked out the background to isolate the precast. I decided I would draw their simple plans and sections with detail lines on the bottom and sides of the precast in the callouts. And this all looks great.

However to create enough room to show the sections and plans I have had to adjust the crop box of the callout which inturn creates overly large callouts on the building elevations.

Is there anyway i should do this differently? I guess i could live with the over sized callouts, but i would prefer not to.

    TIA

What if you tagged the precast pieces in the elevation and in each callout, and then just turn off the callouts in the elevation view, and add a note to the elevation to refer to the tag #'s on sheets x, xx, xx ...

You do realize that you can use the Far Clip Active and the distance setting to set how far back your view looks?

    Thanks that may work...
I was hoping that i could underlay the callout to a drafting view or something similar... and then draw there.

And i have used the far clip view depth, but some of the precast elements are split faces of a wall. The adjoining faces of the wall are in the same plane and it is impossible to remove it that way. But good thought nonetheless.

You could also use the linework tool with the line style set to <invisible> to get rid of pesky lines.
