    Default Standard Working Environment

    Hello,

First of all I am very new to AutoCAD 2006 so please excuse my lack of knowledge. I have created an Enterprise CUI for our company and I am currently in the process of testing it out. I have setup two profiles one so that I have access to modify the Enterprise CUI and the other profile is setup as a standard user where the Enterprise CUI files is read-only. I have setup a standard users environment basically I want to go to any users station and have the same menus, tool palettes, toolbars etc in the same location on the screen.

I have tested this out by removing toolbars and making modifications to my environment as a regular user when I close out of AutoCAD and re-open the working environment it does not default back to how I set it up in the Enterprise CUI the modifications that I made to the environment previously as a regular user have been saved. What am I doing wrong?

Also when you make changes to the Enterprise CUI all you have to do is click on the Save icon in the Customize tab correct?

    Thanks everyone

ljones, I'm going to move this from the customization forum to this one as I believe it will be better served here. feel free to peruse this forum for additional information, as well.
    Thanks

Autocad always starts up with the the working environment set up the same as when you left. If you want to have it always start up the same and ignore any changes you made, you will have to create a shortcut that contains a /p flag pointing to the desired profile. Take a look at the shortcut's that Autocad installs by default, they have an example of the /p flag.

But this may be only part of the issue. Read up on workspace in your help file or here in these forums. Once you set up your working environment the way you want it, you'll want to save it as a workspace so that you can restore it later.

I feel that the whole profile/workspace issue is a bit confusing as it seems like they overlap a bit.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

    Good luck ,
    Brian

    Thanks Brian,

I will try your suggestions. I have read many threads on this subject and although all very helpful and informative it is still a overwhelming.

    Thank you.

Use a workspace in the enterprise cui file to control what, and where, interface elements will be located. You may then add (setvar "WSCurrent" "OfficeUI") to your Acad.lsp to force the use of the OfficeUI workspace everytime AutoCAD starts. (If you place that in AcadDoc.lsp, it would happen on every drawing, which might irritate folks.)

    Robert,

That works great!! I was thinking that I would have to use a lisp file but thanks to you that will not be the case.

    Thank you.
