Default Non-uniform SCALE command for objects

I run into situations where groups of non-block drawing objects are just fine dimensionwise in one axis direction, but I would like to alter the size along just one axis while preserving the other(s).

Is there an existing command that will do this so I don't have to recreate the objects from scratch?

A workaround would be to convert the objects into a block, scale using the properties palette and then explode the block.
