Hmm, very interesting concept... checking out the demo video. I'd feel a little weird talking to my pc you know without cursing, but, I'd get even with my boss for listening to his voicemail on speakerphone...Originally Posted by johnbogie

I wonder how well this would work in a office with several other AutoCAD users talking to their computer. Would some one near me wanting to draw a line in his drawing end up drawing a line in mine?

So what’s is next for those who cannot use the mouse? Is there anything in the works that uses the software fighter pilots use wearing headgear to steer planes? Laser Scanning eye tracking software to place/move/pick while using voice recognition? I'm sure by then the noise filter issue would be no problem, granted this is a co-secant-tangent theory and it would cost soooo much money. but for people that loose arms, reconstructive surgery due to CTS, I know I'm not the only one to have thought about this.. Just food for thought.. Dang I'm hungry again..
I picked up a copy of ibm viavoice for free when it wasn't flying off the shelves.
Voice recognition has always been available, just not widely used.
All background noise is ignored so muliple users is not problematic.
The technology is good for those of us who will take the time to let the software
learn our voice patterns.
I remember back when the first Acer desktop computers were distributed with voice recognition. Issuing commands like email, open, and shutdown were a breeze.

There is one old guy in our office that does just that...he speaks every command as he does it...it was funny at first, but really gets on the nerves after a while.Originally Posted by Wanderer

tell them to refrain from using certain words.
It would be great if I could record what he's saying and use it to develop a new computer language (along the lines of LOGO - remember LOGO? The glass turtle on the floor with the pen on the big sheet of paper... forward 10, left 90, forward 5,right 90, forward 10 etc etc)
Hmmmm, now once I develop this verbal equivalent of LOGO, next comes the huge amounts of cash, then the house on the beach, then retirement before the age of 35
