Default 8.1/E Initial value for the parameter

Let me show an example. I created a family with Length parameters. And made a couple of types of this family. Then I decided to add parameter Quantity of items and Step = Length / Quantity. The initial value for these parameters is 0. Therefore to to force my formula work I have to go to each value and change Quantity parameter's value for 1.
I'd like to see an "Initial value" field in new parameter dialog box.
If use the field in parameter "Modify" mode it's possible to change the value of the parameter in all family types. Sometimes it could be very convenient.

Try using a catalog to accomplish this.

Sorry for misunderstanding. What do you mean?

If you use a catalog, then you only need one type inside the family. The family data is then stored in a text file. So you would just copy/paste the text to a new line and change the name/nunmbers to make the unique type.

This is faster than going through the dialogs in Revit. I use Excel to generate my catalogs (and hope someday Revit will use *.xls instead of *txt.)
