    Default Video Adapter/Monitor Suggestions

I need to put a proposal together for dual monitors and a video card for them.

One machine is a IBM Intellistation that takes a AGP Pro Card
Two machines are Compaq EVO W6000 that also take the AGP Pro Card

    I would like to price 20" LCD's.

We do mechanical coordination using Acad 2006 and Quickpen. 85% of our work is in 3D.

    Thanks.....

We've been buying Dell 2001FP 20.1" flat panels. They they go on sale regularly. Just bought a rack of 'em for $503 each.

    And they rotate landscape/portrait. Cool.

Since you didn't mention any budget constraints, I'm going to give you the high-end and we can adjust from there.

Here is an actual HP part number for a Quadro video card that's surprisingly comparable in price with 3rd party cards.

HP Quadro FX 3000 AGP 256MB DDR Dual DVI - DL488BDL488B - About $1100.00 where I found it.

You really can't go too wrong with Samsung monitors - here is a 20" model with DVI inputs to match the card above.

Black Samsung Syncmaster 20in LCD Computer Monitor 204T - 204T-BLACK204T-BLACK - These are going to be about $650-700 each.

Let me know what you think!

Here is an ATI Fire GL based card with dual DVI ports - verify the manufacturer's part number when you order because there are a bunch of variations of this card.

256MB ATI Fire GL X1 AGP8x Pro Dual DVI DDR - ATI Part #100505051

You should be able to find this card for about $300, maybe less.

There is a Fire GL X2 based card that will give you increased 3D performance (especially since you want to run dual monitors). It's about $600.

    256MB ATI Fire GL X2 AGP8x 2DVI-I MP/20 - ATI Part# 100505077

In case you're wondering, the middle-of-the road video cards based on nVidia chips are all PCI-Express now, so they aren't suitable for your systems. All of the new motherboards use PCI-Express slots so AGP is on in its way out.

    Hope this helps,
    Marc

Yes it does, I actually used the HP Quadro FX 3000 AGP 256MB DDR Dual DVI with the Black Samsung Syncmaster 20in LCD Computer Monitor 204T from your first post. It comes to just under 13k for our 4 stations, I also got quotes on 4 new workstations for 20k... I'm kind of hoping they go with the new stations and retire the 5 year old stations that we are using...

    Thanks for your suggestions....
