AutoCAD 2006 opened drawing files not being marked Open / Read Only

I just started a new job and am having a problem with read only files. From time to time it seems more that one person is opening a file and not getting read only status. Somehow, I even had two copies of the same drawing open in one session with neither marked read only. Any ideas?

What version of AutoCAD are you running?
