    Default Ring Beam Workaround?

I was trying to create a ring beam fomr steel hss members and found it really difficult to trim the ends to the beams and have them come together with the dimensions that i needed, so i created a structure beam from a sweep. I know that it works cause i was able to model it, but i was wondering if this is what others do, or are you able to make the ring members from singular members?

    Thanks

    Justin

The stock steel has some preset parameters that determins how it joins other elements and it will stop the junctions being closed up too tightly, the assumption being that you will use cleated connections of some description.

You can open the stock families and play with the ref planes to alter this behaviour the new families should then join in the fashion you will want them to.
