    Default Revising HM door familiee

    Hello All,

I am attempting to reverse engineer these posted examples of doors with HM frames so that the fame height is variable from 2 4 and 6 inches can anyone tell my why this example is not working where I create a head height from the dimension and end up with constraints issues? I believe I need to set the constraints of the RO of the door. I can't quite pin that down.

    Thanks,
    David

Attached is the corrected family. I used a formula to tie the r.o. to door plus head, and a parameter added to the glass in the frame with the glass extrusion in edit mode. Aslo, your door height was locked at 6'10 on the family.

    Thanks Skisouth,

I will take a look at this revised example. Is there a tutorial that details more in how to create doors? With all the instance parameters possible, it seems the basic tutorials and ATC course books are insufficient in creating more complex families, just image the possibilities with formulas!

    David,

Check out the last months archived ATP. Aaron put together a great course on doors. It made me re-think my approach to all my families.

    David,

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure how to stick a hyperlink in the posts. However, if you go to the top of this page and click on 'Education' , then on 'AUGI Training Program', then you will see a link to the 'Archived ATP Courses'. You'll find it under November.

See if this works. If so, yea for me! If not just read above.

Some months ago I made several door families w/ hollow metal frames. The front and rear rabbets are adjustable, as are the side frame widths, top frame width, depth of the HM frame, and the inset distance from the face of wall to the face of the frame. I can post some of them from work tomorrow if you like.

The download is not available. Aaron got 3 of the 8 segments finished before the course was archived, but I don't know if he is going to continue the segments. I certainly hope so!
