Error opening Point Database:

When I open this particular project I am getting an error message that reads-

Error opening Point Database:
n:\procur\5500\5525\cogo\points.mnb

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file: 'n:\procur\5500\5525\cogo\points.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

Can anyone help me with this one?

I'm assuming that the drive letter in "n" that you are on a network drive, correct? Check out this thread. It doesn't pertain exactly to your problem, but some of the links may point you in the right direction.

Sounds like someone has the Access DB open. Browse to the directory where the DB resides, and look for an .ldb file (make sure file extensions are turned on in Windows Explorer first).

If that file is there, either someone is in your DB, or they were and didn't close it correctly. You may be able to just delete the .ldb file.

Thank you all for your responses. I think they would have put me on the right track. What happened was the rights on a couple of the database files where lost, I had our IT department reassign rights to these files and that seemed to take care of it?? Not sure how that happened but I think I have it fixed for now anyway. I'll look more into the ideas you've given me, thanks for you input!
