Angry AutoCAD 2004 display order Hatch problem

I am working on civil drawings, that have alot of line work and hatching. The hatching is always in the background, so topo lines, etc. will show over the hatch.

I have a drawing that was fine when i plotted it to a Kip plotter, and all was fine. then i had to send the job to a HP1050c laserjet plotter, and all of a sudden my hatches are covering my linework.

I've tried everything from Display orders, to match properties of existing, correct hatches, etc. I've even lowered the elevation of the hatch to be competely under the 3d linework, and it still covers the linework (which is in fact above the hatch).

I have never seen quite this type of problem, if anyone out there has any idea of what is going on, I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks in Advance

check your pc3 files for each of the two plotters, chances are that you have merge lines turned on in one of the pc3 files and overwrite in the other. Kip is a little more difficult to modify the settings, but obviously it is not the one you are having trouble with.

Under the pc3 file for the 1050 click on properties->the "+" on graphics, and look at merge control.

    Hopefully this solves your problem

Thanks for the info, that I will look into.

Now I have gotten the problem fixed tho, with a bit of experimentation.

I basically tried several ways, but when i blocked out all linework except the hatch, and then reinserted it, exploded (careful with your ucs and all) and WAH LAH!

My drawing displays and plots correctly.

Thanks again for the info. I believe that is what could be causing the problems.

    I'll let you know.
