Angry Dimension arrowheads remain visible when Layer is turned OFF

    Greetings,

This problem is not particular to 2006, but is really a question about dimension styles (I think). My dilemma is that when I am inserting dimensions and then turn off the layer the dimension is on, the arrows act like they are on a different layer that I can't turn off! It is like they are behaving like blocks do, when they are created on a different layer and don't go away when you think they should.

    Anyone else encounter this?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi

For starters see if the following couple of threads offer any help / guidance on the problem you are experiencing...

Leader Block Arrow Plots (previews) when layer is turned Off

Leader lines (not arrows) on frozen layer plot

    Have a good one, Mike

    Joe,

It sounds like you're using custom arrowheads, I have the same problem with them. If that's the case try changing to a different arrowhead.

Also I've seen that happen in drawings that were converted from Microstation.

Let me know if that helps.

    Thanks for the replies.

I should say that I inherited this drawing from someone so I was not familiar with the settings.

After looking further into it, I did find the arrowheads on another layer and was able to turn it off.

However, the properties of the dimension show it is a "rotated" dimension. I did not know I was installing a rotated dimension or how that happened.
Also, I do not know how the dims can go in at a different layer as the arrowheads. I was using arrowhead that came with Autocad, the screenshot is attached.

    Thanks,
    Joe

when I find a drawing with arrowheads on different layers, I find that they have usually come from one of our architects using adt or something, who, for appearance/bold or something reasons on their plots, keep them on separate layers.
