Arial font does not Plot well when placed in Modelspace

Hi, I'm a piping designer and use Auto CAD 2006. Here is my question. When I dimension and place text in model space and then print out any of my layouts, the font that prints is usually unreadable. Looks fine in paper space, but prints out unreadable. Is it a glitch in CAD or are our plotters misconcieving the information? I usually use Arial as my choice of fonts. It prints out clearly as long as it's placed in paper space, but not in model space. Any sugestions?

What is unreadable about the font? Is it not filled, too bold?

Can you describe the "unreadable" font, or post a pdf example here?

To go with Scott's above suggestions...

Check if "Hide Plot" is set to "Yes" for Floating Viewports ( Paperspace ).
