Cool, let me know if you do decide to try vray. I have a few tips for using onyx with vray.

On a related note, Have you had any further success with Maxwell? From what I've read around the forums, things aren't going well for Next Limit right now.

Next Limit is way behind schedule, which has upset a lot of people. They compounded this with a big mistake:releasing the RC1 (release candidate 1) full of bugs, though they're up to RC4 now and RC5 is due any day without the bugs. They seam to finally be getting things together in terms of communication with the customers, and the deal seams to be that in order to accommodate everything they wanted in materials, they had to re-wright the render engine itself. The latest info looks promising and still delivers that Maxwell touch.

Personally, I'm having great results with the old Beta, so I don't care as much. I just love how little setup is required and the grain in only an issue on complicated interiors. I'm even playing around with some animation with it (around 6 to 10 min. per frame) but need more spare time to set that up because there's some architecture I have to get done first.

I would use Vray for the NPR and toon stuff where I'm using the Max scanline right now.

Here's something I cranked out in Maxwell this last night. Revit model, Maxwell rendering. Some plants Onyx, some added in Photoshop. If you think this should go into it's own post, let me know and I'll move it.

    Hat's off to Andre!

Beautiful work. Who cares about all the mix up with Maxwell when the original beta is turning that quality of work out.

    Brilliant!

Thanks, did you mean, "at my new job"... if so congratulations!

If you know Vray, you'll have no problem learning Maxwell.

Congrats on your new position Chris! A big move, but one that I expect most of us would make in a minute. A N.Y. minute that is!
