    Default xref's and layer states

I have never seen this problem before (and probably never will again) but I've got a drawing with some xrefs in it and i want to change the colors and freeze some xref layers in my drawing (without changing the xref file) pretty simple, usually. Everytime I close and open the drawing, the xref reloads all the original layer settings. Normally to get around this I would just make a layer state but that isn't even working. The only thing that really works (but is a pain) is to export the layer state and import the same file everytime you load the drawing. Any suggestions as to why my drawing is doing this?

    Thanks, Randy

check your Options and see if the 'retain changes to x-ref layers' is ticked (is under open & save) sounds to me like it's not
