Default Question about partial loading AutoDesk menus in an Office.CUI

Using the "Philosophy of CUI" as a guideline, I am going to setup:

    -Custom.cui (Main)
    -Office.cui (Enterprise)
    --ADT
    --Express

    My question is this:

When I point the partial ADT menu to the correct folder, it looks like it will hard-code the path to my local ADT.CUI here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\cvaughn\Application Data\Autodesk\ADT 2006\enu\Support\adt.cui

When I roll the Office.cui out to other machines, does AutoCAD re-path this to the correct user folder when it goes to another user or machine?

    Thanks,

    Craig

I'm beginning to wonder whether this setup will work. I've made the ADT.CUI a partial menu loaded under the OFFICE.CUI file now, and I've lost all right-click context-sensitive menus that are part of ADT. For example, now I can't right-click on a wall and get the popup menu for that.

I guess I figured that it would work correctly even if it is partially loaded.

Do I need to copy all of the "shortcut menus" from the ADT.CUI menu and make them part of the "main" OFFICE.CUI.

    Thanks, Craig

I read somewhere that AutoCAD only recognizes the first short cut menus. All others are ignored. Sorry I can't find the location where I read that but that is what I understood anyway.

I'm getting closer now . Here is the only problem I've found so far. Some of the icons from the ADT.CUI menu don't display correctly when it is a partial menu under the OFFICE.CUI. Here is the OFFICE.CUI as the Enterprise:

Here it is with ADT.CUI as the Enterprise (normally):

You can see the difference in the displayed icons.

Anybody know of a fix for this? Thanks. Craig

Unhardwiring (is that a word?) the paths in a CUI is pretty easy with Notepad. As long as the files are in AutoCAD's search path, this works fine. Although Autodesk considers editing the CUI to be more wicked than, say, (racks brain to think of something immensely evil...) Sony, it's perfectly OK, and sometimes required. As always, incrementally back up all your stuff before and after.

    Yes. It's a bug, that's the workaround.

Make sure the ADT menu files are in AutoCAD's search path. Rename or move the ADT.mnr file so AutoCAD can't find it. Close and restart AutoCAD to force it to make a new one. Did that work?

I use LDT and am working on implementing the Enterprise CUI in much the same way you are but with a few differences. I will substitute ADT for LDT in my example.

I was planning on loading the CUIs as follows:

    -Custom (main)
    -ADT (Enterprise)
    --Office
    --Express

I think this will resolve the problem with your shortcut menus.

Here is a quote from an AU handout by Robert Bell.

"The last loaded definition of keyboard shortcuts, whether shortcut keys or temporary overrides, will be the one that takes effect. However, for all other CUI elements such as menu and mouse buttons the instance loaded first will be the used definition"
