Default AutoCAD not seeing font files

I have LT 2006, and I have a couple of fonts that I need to install.

So far I have installed them in the AutoCAD "fonts" file, the Windows "fonts" file, and I think maybe another one or two.

The trouble I have is that AutoCAD doesn't seem to be able to find them! When I look at the text styles dialogue box and click the arrow under "font name" there is a list of fonts there that is different from the ones mentioned above.

Where does this file exist?!!! Please help! It's driving me mad!!!

    Hi

    Are we talking...

    * Native AutoCAD font files ie .SHX files
    or
    * TrueType font files ie .TTF

If .SHX they only need to be placed somewhere within the AutoCAD Search Path [ ID: TS43893 - Adding fonts for use in AutoCAD ].

If .TTF they need to be installed into the Windows "Fonts" directory / folder ( ID: TS42355 - Some TrueType fonts not listed ].

    Have a good one, Mike

They're in now thanks - not sure how, as I still don't understand where that file is.

It would be useful to know because I have to get other people to install them (or install them myself on other peoples computers).

    Hi

    Good to hear

If .TTF they must be located in the Windows "Fonts" directory / folder for them to work correctly.

If .SHX search your AutoCAD Search Path for their location. Side note, if you work on a Network - maybe consider locating such stuff in a common area on the Network, then point AutoCAD to this common area ( via its Support Search Paths ).

    Have a good one, Mike

    Hi Kristi

First things first, please refer to the below snippet taken from "Forum Etiquette"...

Do the two Technical Documents referenced in my above post ( RE: AutoCAD not seeing font files ) not provide you with a workable solution ?
