are you looking to discover a manufacturer? or were you looking to obtain a used one?Originally Posted by cadkiller
if yes to the second one, I'd try posting an ad on the classifieds forum on autodesk site.

Melanie;
I'm looking for a manufacturer that sells a 13 X 19 laser printer.
I have searched and searched; but can't find one.
The largest lasers that I can find are 11 X 17.
I can only find ink jet printers that can handle this size; but don't know if they're as fast as a laser when printing black and white CAD drawings.
Our Minolta copier/printer/scanner does 13x19. But it is also a $50,000 machine....
I use an HP 9800 deskjet. $225. Kinda slow, does the job.
For a laser that big, you're probably going to have to go to a monster machine. You're looking for "Tabloid Extra" which is a bit bigger than most people need.
Hmmm...how about a Xerox (tektronix) 7750? It's color, and it will set you back close to seven grand, but it will do 13x19 (don't know what the active area is) and will crank out 35 pages per minute in color or black and white.
It would probably be more economical to buy half a dozen HP1120s (or similar..I think I have an 1100c or 1150c at home) and a bunch of USB to parallel adapters. Not exactly bulletproof, but it would do the job.
Thanks Jordan;
That is much better than the $50,000 system Aaron recommended.
It is still expensive; but really spits out print jobs at 35 PPM.
The problem is everything is going color and they're forgetting about the little guys that just need black and white prints like me.
I was looking at the new HP's and they require 6 cartridges of ink to get it started. That's like $200.00 just to crank it up.
For a long time here we had a RAIP (Random Array of Inkjet Printers). 3 HP CP1700's connected to a Jet Direct card. Each printer is only $500 and together they were fast and cost effective. We needed it for color but I believe that there are several models of inkjet printers which let you swap a second black cartrige in for the color to get faster BW printing. We still use these for all our photo printing.
We've now got a Canon IRC3100 which does 12x18 which is amazing (half size of 24x36) we use it as a copier, scanner, printer, fax machine, scanner, scanner scanner. Did I mention scanner. It's taken us very close to being a paperless office because it lets us scan everything to PDF in bulk. If you can live with 12x18 and can justify the cost by combining multiple machines this machine is HIGHLY recommended.
Andres;
Thanks, that might work for me.
How much does it cost and do you have a link?
Where do you get 12 X 18 paper?
Well I found a link and it's about $7,000.
Still just abit over my budget.
I have the HP 5000 laser (11 X 17 B&W) and it cost me about $1500 8 years ago.
Why don't the manufacturers make one similar to handle 13 X 19 paper for just B& W?
I'm sure there would be a decent market for something like that.

We got ours as part an FM package which includes our Plotter from our Repro house. They supply the consumables (the paper comes from HammerMill).
