The title says it all. Is there and easy way to export the layer definitions for all of the content inside the OOTB Detail Component Manager? I want to verify the layer defs of the components.
Thanks

I might have something for you. Let me dig for it & I'll post back here with what I find.
Look on this page under "L" for an item called Layerhtm.

It's a brilliant little piece that will extract all layer info in the layer manager & put it into a html doc.
Good stuff, but not exactly what I was looking for. I need to know what layer the detail component will be on - whitout having to insert every component onto a drawing and then printing out the layer list.
Is the Detail Component insertion based on the Layer Key info? What layers are all of these component on? What layers are embedded in the components? If they are based on the Layer Keys - How do I export to excel or print out the Layer Keys?
ack! gasp! faint. You don't want to insert every component from all 16 divisions? It should only take a few years... j/kOriginally Posted by mark.kiker
Yes, details are placed on layers via the layer key. If you run a search in the ADT forums, you may pull this up as I know it's been discussed before in here.Originally Posted by mark.kiker
If you have "access" to Access, you could poke around in the databases that the DCM uses and make note of the layer keys assigned. For items created from drawing "jigs", open the drawing file used to define the shape, and note the layer name of the layers on which the objects are drawn, as the layer name is the Layer Key name.
