Unhappy Adding block to Tool Palette

I am able to drag blocks to the Tool Palette, but nothing stays. How would you create an image for the block. What would cause the block not to stay in the Palette?

    Thank you,

    Brad

Is the entire palette disappearing, or just the tool?

If you create a palette while a project is active, then put a tool in that palette, the palette may not be visible when you change projects.

Have you been able to create tools before?

An image should be created on the fly. But, you can right-click on the tool and choose another object to create an image from. I have done this if I was not satisfied with the on-the-fly image.

When I drag and drop the block to the Palette, the tool disappears.

I did not create a project to do this. I am starting fresh with a blank dwg file.

If I drag and drop a tool from the content browser or Tool Palette to a new Tool Palette. The Tool stays.

    Try this:

Click and release the mouse to select the block,
Click and hold on the block, wait for the box to appear,
While holding the button, drag it onto the OPEN pallette,
Wait for the box to appear again, Release the button.

    Does that work?

    Brad,
I'm not sure what problem you are experiencing, but if I take a block, insert it into a drawing, save the drawing, then drag the block on to the clean, new pallet, it creates the image for me. What type of blocks are you creating?

So that method is still not working, or were you able to get something to show up there. I know with style based objects, you won't get as nice of a result for the icon. For example, if you created a Mass Element for a footing step, (like I did) when you place it on the tool pallet, All you get is a something that looks like a box.

    Try this:

Draw a line segment, end command,
Left click and release to select the line,
l\Left click on the selected line and hold button,
    Wait for box to appear,
Drag it onto an open palette,
Wait for the box to appear,
    Release the mouse button.

    Well, how did it go???
