Question Unable to detach a Xref

I have two paperspace layouts. Each has a border. I wanted to detach the border and attach a new border to the layouts. However, I get a message ,"unable to detach. Multiple refer. detected". So this means I cant detach the old border and attach the new border?

I'm not sure what you mean by border? do you mean a titleblock? something that is x-refed in, though, right?

can you just delete it? maybe a screenshot would help me to understand, I'm a little slow and pictures can help.

Let say that you have 2 xrefs attached to your MyDrawing, Xref1 and Xref2
if Xref2 has Xref1 attached and you try to detach Xref1 you got that message.

    MyDrawing
    |____Xref1
    |____Xref2---Xref1

you have to detach Xref 1 from Xref2 first
and then detach Xref1 from MyDrawing.

    : ) Happy Computing !

Do both layouts contain the same xref? If so, you will need to delete one of them before you will be able to detach.

Hi "sherflor" ( Sorry, I do not know your real name )

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD Customization forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

You have 2 options. One erase one of the xrefs and then detach the other. Or, you can repath the xref and both xrefs will be updated.
