I want to know if there is a fix to a problem I am having with assembly and part files. Lets say I have an assembly file open (iam file) that I am placing components (ipt files) into. After placing a part file into the assembly file I notice that the part file is incorrect. I delete this part file from the assembly file and start a new part file to model the part file correctly. When I do a save on the part file I name it the same file name as it was previously when it was the incorrect part. Inventor will not allow me to name it with the same file name as long as the assembly file I first placed it in is still open. If I close the assembly file and reopen it then I can name the part file with the same file name. This works but I have some rather large assembly files that will take considerable time to open and close. I guess what I am looking for is a "purge" similar to AutoCad so Inventor doesn't "see" the part file name. I hope this is understandable. Any comments?
