Cool Locking a layer and password protect it

Is there a way to lock a layer so that I would be the only one able to unlock it?
I am trying to put some text on out title block and prevent other users from removing unless they have approval to do so. I am currently the cad mamanger.
    Any help would be appreciated

I'm going to move this from the Tips & Tricks forum, as I believe it will be better served here. Thanks.

To repeat a quote from Mark Kiker's excellent AU class....

"Don't let a management problem become a technology problem"

If you insist, there is really no absolute method. I suppose you could write a reactor to undo any deletes on a certain layer - but IMO proper training and discipline go a long way.

There currently isn't a way to lock a layer with a security setting or password. But you could make the titleblock drawing read only.

That's excellant advice! I'm also a fan of Mark Kiker, so I'm admitedly biased.

We should consider that he may be facing a partnering situation with a subconsultant where the titleblock might not be in-house.

    ~nods~ that's the viewpoint I'm coming from.

I've been searching for a thread, since I know this has come up before, but, I can't hit on the correct search words... I'm sure Mike will come along and help find that later...

If the file is not in control of the OP - then http://www.cadlock.com is the only way to go. Everything else can be defeated with varying degrees of difficulty.
